Bahá’u’lláh's Teachings

"My object is none other than the betterment of the world and the tranquility of it's peoples."  Bahá’u’lláh
The teachings of Bahá’u’lláh, revealed over the course of four decades, are vast in scope.  They include over 100 volumes on every conceivable subject. They speak of universal peace as "The supreme goal of all mankind", and provide the spiritual principles and tools that will guide humanity to that peace. Bahá’u’lláh teaches:
  • The oneness of humanity
  • The innate nobility of each human being
  • Abolition of prejudices of all kinds
  • Harmony between religion and science
  • The equality of women and men
  • Education for all
  • Spiritual solutions to economic problems
  • Justice in all human endeavours
  • Elimination of the extremes of wealth and poverty
  • Conservation and sustainable development
  • The necessity of a world federation of nations

Baha'is view these principles as matter of immediate and practical concern for individuals, communities and institutions alike.  Through a process of action and reflection Baha'is around the world are learning to translate these lofty goals into a concrete reality.

Baha'u'llah also explains that:
  • The purpose of life is to know and love God, and acquire heavenly virtues such as compassion, kindliness and honesty, and trustworthiness.
  • We learn about God and divine virtues by studying the lives and teachings of His Messengers--such as Jesus, Moses, Buddha, Mohammed, Krishna and Baha'u'llah.
  • The religions that these spiritual Teachers brought are all connected--like chapters in a single book of revelation.
  • As humanity matures, we become ready to hear deeper spiritual truths and practice greater levels of unity
  • We are ready to recognize the oneness of humanity, the equality of men and women, the harmony of science and religion, the value of universal education, the spiritual nature of families, and the promise of world peace.
  • We are ready to accept ourselves as noble creations and develop our untapped potential as spiritual beings.
