Are you curious about Baha'u'llah?

Click here to watch the new feature film--Light to the World (50 minutes)
There is a story unfolding in the world. In this film, you'll hear from people on every continent how Baha'u'llah's Revelation has affected their lives and how it has created loving, vibrant neighbourhoods and communities.

It is a story of humanity’s progress through history, propelled by the teachings of Messengers of God Who have guided humanity through its stages of development, and now to the dawn of its maturity.

Two hundred years ago, such a prophetic Figure appeared: Bahá’u’lláh. He brought teachings for this age that represent an end to division and otherness, through which––at long last––the oneness of humankind can be realized. Listen to accounts of people from diverse nations whose lives and communities have been transformed by the light that Bahá’u’lláh brought to the world.

Bahá’u’lláh was born in Tehran in 1817. Now, two centuries later, the day of His birth is celebrated around the world, alongside the birth of the forerunner of His Revelation, the Báb, born in 1819 on the day before the birth of Bahá’u’lláh according to the calendar used in Persia. These Twin Holy Birthdays are celebrated by Bahá’ís and their friends as one annual festival where the closely interwoven lives and missions of these two Divine Luminaries are remembered together.
Why are we optimistic about the future?
Baha'is are working with their friends and neighbours in every corner of the planet to create vibrant, peaceful communities. We have good reasons to believe world peace is inevitable and that its the next stage in humanity's evolution.

In Oak Bay we serve the wider community in many ways.  We provide character-building child and youth programs; prayer and meditation circles; and study circles focused on putting spiritual insights into action. Our activities are open to people of all backgrounds, beliefs, races, cultures and lifestyles, without obligation. We want to collaborate with people like you!
There have been Bahá’s in Oak Bay since 1969. Bahá’í means "of the Light".  We are followers of Baha'u'llah who consciously strive to live our lives by principles of equality, justice, love and service to all humanity.

Bahá’u’lláh’s vision for humanity is sweeping in its scope, and calls for  the unification of the entire human race. Every day, as more and more people come in contact with Bahá’ís  they say, "Tell me more about what it means to be a Bahá’í.  What is it that unites more than 6-million people around the world?  And how can people from every conceivable nation, culture and religion have such a wonderful feeling of oneness with each other and with all of humanity?  What is the source of their commitment to achieve true peace and brotherhood in the world? And how are Bahá’ís able to find that feeling of joy and freedom in their personal lives?" These pages provide a few answers.

We invite you to meet us and get involved in creating a civilization that is spiritual, progressive, peaceful and just.

Oak Bay Bahá’ís are part one worldwide Bahá’í community

Oak Bay Bahá’ís are part of a widespread, vibrant international Bahá’í community. In just over 170 years, the Bahá’í Faith has rapidly grown from an obscure movement to the second-most widespread religion on the planet.  The worldwide Bahá’í community (now over 6 million strong) embraces more than 2,100 ethnic, racial and tribal groups in every corner of the globe. It is likely the most diverse organized group in the world, demonstrating that "unity in diversity" is indeed possible. Thanks to a binding covenant within its teachings, the international Bahá’í community is one united global organization, with no sects or divisions.
